A calm lake with two islands resting in the middle, bordered by a birch forest. This was the conceptual starting point for the design of the new reception area of the Kleintierklinik Ludwigsburg. The architects wanted to create a place that is unmistakably the centre and heart of the now increased amount of employees on forty-seven to be exact. The Kleintierklinik is located on the edge of Ludwigsburg, which lies in the border area between the industrial area and fields. "We need a place for our clients and their owners, which meets our demand for individual care, professional service, and future-oriented thinking," says Dr. Marc Goldhammer, who has been running the clinic together with his wife since 2016.

The room suggests openness, provides space for exercise and gives the patient and their owners the desired rest before the examination or surgery. The high-quality lighting underlines the haptic and visual quality of the chosen materials.

The patient, be it dog, cat or chimpanzee – even this genus belongs to the patient group of specialist veterinarian practice, which, among other things, the Wilhelma, one of Germany's most popular zoos is among their customers counts - true to the motto "The customer is king ", Seated comfortably on the open upholstered islands in the center of the room next to their owners. If you are looking for a bit more peace and intimacy, take a look at one of the seats in the niches, which are integrated into the wall coverings, and watch the action from there. "We quickly realized that waiting is already part of the service offered. Staying in front of the treatment should be as important as the treatment itself, "says architect Hadi Tandawardaja, who has been managing the Stuttgart-based SOMAA office since 2007 with his partner Tobias Bochmann.

Despite the short construction time of just 2 weeks of conversion during operation, it was possible to dispense with often short-lived shop fitting standards. "It was important to us not only to create a unique spatial appearance," says Tandawardaja. Rather, the architects wanted to create a sustainable solution, which meets the high demands of the operation in your use.

"Combining this claim with the goal of achieving individuality and uniqueness in terms of appearance as well as communicating the identity of the company is ultimately what distinguishes interior design from interior design," says Tandawardaja.
